August 5, 2007, Underwood Plaza Update

Crossland Steel continued welding bracing members at the 1st Floor Level and welded bracing gusset plates at the 2nd Floor Level followed up with bracing members. Several of the second tier of columns extending from just above the 3rd Floor Level up to just above the 6th Floor Level were erected and stabilized with cables, followed up with installation of 4th Floor Level beams and diagonal bracing.

BEI continued running under-slab conduits and stub ups at the 1st Floor mechanical room. Temporary power was run up to the 2nd Floor Level.

Crossland Construction chipped out concrete at the 2nd Floor slab to allow installation of bracing gusset plates. At the 3rd Floor slab block-outs were installed prior to the pour. The special Elocone nuts were obtained for the column anchor bolts which were shy of the top of regular nuts. The upper flight of the central concrete stairs from the 1st to the 2nd Floor Level was formed up. Safety items continued to be addressed, with a fall net installed at the elevator hoistway at the 3rd Floor Level. Rock fill continued to be installed for the 1st Floor Level slab and rebar was installed for the thickened slab edge.

Walker Masonry washed the brick sample panels for the Architect’s review.

Fayetteville Mechanical continued bringing piping materials on site. Cast iron and PVC piping began to be hung below the 2nd Floor Level and stubbed above.
